The last few weeks we have had our spirits lifted by Nana Ahlam's visit, most of Laith couldn't believe his luck that someone was giving him so much attention and spoiling him rotten from the moment he woke up until bedtime. We didn't miss out on her attention as our freezer now resembles the storage unit of the finest Lebanese restaurant with so many home cooked goodies. A good time was had by all, and subsequently many tears were shed on her departure (yes, by all). Thankfully only a month before we go home for a visit.
Until then my life revolves around the militant bitch of a PT who has taken over my life and body (it needs it). I cannot explain the pain she puts me through, it makes the PT's in the UK look like school kids (no offence) I usually end each session on the verge of vomiting and the following day discovering muscles in parts of my body my biology teacher omitted to point out. She shows me little mercy and a lot of praise and in two weeks has managed to get me down nearly another dress size so I am happy to part with my cash in return for hours of torture. Everytime I scream 'I cant do this!' she calmly points to Wayne. He is paralysed practically from the chest down, yet turns up 7 days a week at 6am and has a 2 hour session. Enough said.
The kid spends his time with his new Mary Poppins in the form of Christine at the creche and to be honest who wouldn't like to be nestled in her arms and sung to for an hour, whilst the other children run around cooing at you (he is the youngest and therefore the cutest).
I spend a few hours a week with Thuli when she isnt busy in her salon. She really is a wicked girl and am so happy to have made a friend in her. A women who can give me a manicure, shape my eyebrows and feed my baby whilst making him laugh all in one hour is magnificent in my eyes. Looking forward to our liquid lunch on Friday!
Sam and I have been scouring out the markets here (think Portobello only set in the park or beachfront) as well as enjoying our regular weekly brunches at the art gallery with Suri and his beautiful family. It is Easter break next week so we are taking a drive along the coast and venturing out a bit further. Feeling much more settled now and can see myself falling a little bit in love with life here...thanks to the friendliness and warmth of the people.
Until next time....
