So here we are, beginning a new chapter in our lives...spent the best part of the long flight to Joberg in tears thinking of all the loved ones, especially those of you with us at home before we left. You cant imagine how much we spoke of you with such love on the flight. Laith was oblivious to it all as he slept throughout the entire flight - much to the joy of the passenger next to me who had offered to babysit for me (I think it was out of pity as I was a blubbering mess)
We have been here a week now and are coping well - it does help we are in 30 degree heat, with a beach view and stunning surroundings. Sam has managed to get the Internet sorted for me, for my sanity and subsequently his and I have never been more grateful for the invention of skype. hana.shuman so please add me!
Laith and I experienced our first braai SA style (that is barbeque to us) To say they love their meat is a understatement, I have never seen such an array of perfectly cooked rib eye, mutton, chops, ribs to name a few...i managed to located some lettuce somewhere amongst the carcasses...my anemia is going to be a thing of the past at this rate.
I have already started locating creches, gyms, spas, and of course a good hairdresser and beauty salon within walking distance - a necessity not a luxury I tell Sam.The humidity makes me look like the fourth Supreme. Other than that we have been busy setting up laith's room and making sure he is happy - which he is. We spend the afternoons going for walks, and getting him accustomed to the new climate - he does have a startled look on his face when he is near the beach with the sea breeze in his face. Poor kid got used to being insulated in layers of jumpers and hats back home. Can't wait to take hime to the pool.
Until next time....
